If nails grow up why is the tip the only part of the nail that looks white, besides the very bottom.?

Because it isn't attached to the skin. It's like smooshing clear glass against your face... the glass is clear until you introduce your face to it, then it appears flesh-colored.If nails grow up why is the tip the only part of the nail that looks white, besides the very bottom.?
I think the reason the whole nail isn't white is because it's right on top of your skin, which is pinkish, so it tints the nail color as well.

That;s why when your nails come off, they're entirely white.

Ew, gruesome much?If nails grow up why is the tip the only part of the nail that looks white, besides the very bottom.?
.

Nails don't just grow up like plants at the tip. The tip itself is not growing more nail but it is being pushed out as the bottom of the nail grows inside the skin and flesh. As more nail grow, the more it gets pushed outward. If you don't clip them (or don't break or wear them out climbing rocks like cavemen did) it would just keep growing like long hair.

While it is in contact with flesh (and blood which gives the pinkish color) it has a color while when it reach the tip, t is on its own and lifeless becoming white - which is its natural color.

.
the cuticles are always a different color than the tip, unless they r painted
You are no longer seeing what is below/through the nail plate, which of where the nail bed(connective tissue) is at.

As your nail grows, you will see or think of the nail to be white but because it is translucent(semitransparent). It is this what gives it, it's white appearance.
Wow. I wish I had enough time in the day to ponder that thought.
The white colored one is for u to chip it off using a nail clipper. while the pinkhish one is still growing
Because that's the oldest part of the nail.
Actually i think aall of the nail is white but because of the skin it looks as if it is browinish. Well us girls dont really need the colour cause we put on nailpolish
